International Beirat

Die Mitglieder des Internationalen Beirats (IAB), von denen fünf Wissenschaftlerinnen und Professorinnen sind, sind international anerkannte, externe Spezialisten in den einzelnen Forschungsbereichen von ENROL, verfügen über mehrjährige Erfahrung in der Lehre und in der Betreuung von Doktoranden und sind daher in der Lage, die Qualifikationen der Kandidaten zu bewerten und eine unabhängige Perspektive in das Einstellungsverfahren einzubringen.

Darüber hinaus wird der IAB den Aufsichtsrat (SB) in Fragen der Qualitätssicherung, des Konfliktmanagements, des Fortschritts und der besten Praktiken beraten. Der Aufsichtsrat und das IAB werden auch als Ombudsmann und Vermittler bei Konflikten zwischen einem Nachwuchsforscher und seinem Betreuer fungieren.

Tamara Alliston, PhD, is Professor in the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, where she directs the UCSF Musculoskeletal Center. Her laboratory investigates the interaction between physical and biochemical signals during skeletal development, homeostasis, and disease.  Her group employs approaches from molecular and cell biology, materials science, and engineering to identify mechanisms and to advance the development of new therapeutic strategies.

Dr. Bharat Bhushan is an Academy Professor (San Jose, CA), and has served as Ohio Eminent Scholar and Howard D. Winbigler Professor, and Director of Nanoprobe Laboratory for Bio- & Nanotechnology and Biomimetics at Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio. He holds two M.S., a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, MBA, and five honorary doctorates. His research interests include Fundamental studies in the interdisciplinary areas of Bio/nanotribology/nanomechanics, Nanomaterials Characterization, Scanning Probe Techniques, Magnetic Storage, Bio/nanotechnology, Nanomanufacturing, Bioinspired Liquid Repellency, Self-cleaning, Anti-icing, Anti-fouling, and Water Harvesting, Science and Technology Policy. He has authored 10 books and 900+ papers and holds 25 US and foreign patents. He has previously worked for Mechanical Technology Inc., SKF, and IBM Almaden Research Center, San Jose, CA.

Eva-Kathrin Ehmoser is Univ. Prof. at the University of Natural Resources and Life sciences, BOKU, Vienna at the Department for NanoBioTechnology. Eva Ehmoser is Head of the institute of Synthetic Bioarchitectures. Her research focus is on Bio(nano)material research and applications – with an emphasis of environmental aspects. The methodological background concerns detection and characterization of nanoscopic materials and the interaction with complex matrices.

Reinhard Fischer is Univ. Prof. at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), in Karlsruhe, Germany. The research focus of R. Fischer is on the molecular analysis of different phenomena of filamentous fungi. Phytochrome-dependent light sensing, the production of secondary metabolites and the biology of nematode-trapping fungi are three main topics.

Dr. Ivana Gadjanski is Research associate professor and Assistant director for Science in Biosense Institute, University of Novi Sad, Serbia. Her research focus is on biomolecular engineering, biosensing for agrifood, biomedical and environmental monitoring applications and on cellular agriculture i.e. tissue engineering applied to food science

Peter Krajnc

Peter Krajnc is professor at the University of Maribor, the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. Peter Krajnc is Head of PolyOrgLab and the vice dean of the faculty. His research focus is on porous polymers, molecularly imprinted polymers, monolithic and membrane polymer supports and biocompatible/biodegradable polymers for biomedical and environmental applications. Furthermore, porous composites and hybrid materials are investigated.

Professor Shivani Mishra is currently associated with Academy of Nanotechnology and Waste Water Innovations. She is an established researcher who focuses on developing nanocomposites for water treatment and waste utilization for material and engineering applications and has published over 100 articles and book chapters.

James E. Moore Jr.

James E. Moore Jr.

Imperial College, London

Prof. Moore joined Imperial College as the Bagrit Chair in Medical Device Design in 2013.  His research focuses on the biomechanics of the formation and treatment of atherosclerosis and cancer. His research has focused on the pumping characteristics of the lymphatic system, transport of nitric oxide, antigens, and chemokines. Along with his funding from government, charity, and industry, Prof. Moore has received patents for medical devices and testing equipment. 

 

Verónica Romão

INESC MN

Verónica Romão is the Quality Manager at 2m Pharma in Portugal. She was previously a research associate at INESC MN and Head of the Bioanalytical Engineering Group – BIONEER. In 2013, she has co-founded Magnomics S.A., a med-tech startup company, spin-off from INESC MN and INESC ID, focused on delivering a point-of-care platform for the bacterial infection diagnostics. She holds a PhD from IST-ULisboa in Biotechnology and expertise in the development of biosensors and key enabling technologies for the in vitro diagnostics.

Keio University

Ryo Sudo is a Professor of the Department of System Design Engineering at Keio University, Japan. His research focus is on cell biomechanics of vascular and cancer cells, vascular and liver tissue engineering, and 3D culture using microfluidic devices.

Primoz Ziherl

Primoz Ziherl

University of Ljubljana

Primož Ziherl is a professor at the University of Ljubljana and a researcher at the Jožef Stefan Institute. He works in theoretical soft condensed matter physics, focusing on interactions and structure formation in nanocolloidal dispersions and on soft quasicrystals. His expertise also includes theoretical biophysics, especially the mechanics of vesicles and their aggregates as well as the structure and morphology of epithelial tissues.
