Application process for general and academic personnel

Registration

If this is your first application to TU Wien, you will need to begin by registering. You can do this when applying directly for an advertised vacancy (button: Apply now) or you can begin by clicking on the REGISTRATION button. As soon as registration is complete, you will receive an e-mail confirming your registration has been successful and that your applicant profile has been created.

Note: You can use your application profile to manage, update and make additions to your application files.

Confirming your application

Once you have submitted your application for an advertised vacancy, you will also receive an automatic e-mail confirmation.

Application documents

Please send us your covering letter, as well as your full and up-to-date CV or other required documents as requested in the online form (see APPLY NOW button in the respective job advertisement). Comment: There is also an option to upload documents, such as references, etc., by clicking on the "+Additional documentsbutton. Please note (!) the documents requested in the advertisement.

When making more than one application, please pay attention to the notice in your applicant profile. This notice requests you to keep your profile up to date and/or ensure that you have provided us with your full profile for each application.

Data volumes

We would advise you that it is only possible to upload documents to a maximum of 10 MB.
The following formats are accepted for upload: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .jpg, .png

Speculative applications

At TU Wien, we are pleased to receive your speculative application and to hear of your interest in a particular role! We would be pleased to include you in our applicants database and attach your application to your preferred job profile. Application documents

In the online application tool, you will need to upload several documents in PDF format (the following formats are accepted for upload: .pdf, .doc, .docx, .jpg, .png). For professorship advertisements, we would recommend that you have the following files available to complete your application:

  • CV
  • Covering letter stating motivation and vision
  • Previous academic work
  • Schedule of teaching and lecturing activities
  • List of publications
  • Excerpt of key publications
  • Teaching and research approach (5 - 7 pages incl. abstract)

Please note (!) the documents requested in the advertisement and any other files (e.g.: projects, portfolio, etc.) can be uploaded by clicking on the "+Additional documentsbutton.

Data volumes

We would advise you that it is only possible to upload documents to a maximum of 10 MB.
If you wish to upload larger data volumes, please upload the files in parts (Part 1 / Part 2 / Part 3 /etc.) , where each part has a maximum volume of 10 MB.

Postal submissions

Please understand that we cannot consider any applications that we receive by post. When submitting your applications, please use our online portal at all times.

Application closing date 

You can submit your application at any time up to midnight on the date specified in the advertisement. You can update your applicant profile at any time up to this deadline. Once the closing date has passed, any further updates made will no longer be synchronised with our interface.

Dual application

If the professorial advertisement states the option for dual application, please indicate in the application form whether or not yours is a dual application by entering YES or NO in the additional field "Is this a dual application?". Then, please enter the name of the applicant with whom you are applying in the "Comments in the event of a dual application" field.

NOTE: Please note that both applicants must register and each person must upload their own application!

General information for applicants

Vacancies are advertised every Thursday in the TU Wien Bulletin , opens an external URL in a new windowand on the TU Wien Job platform, opens an external URL in a new window.

The closing date for applications is at least 3 weeks from the date the vacancy is advertised.
