Vienna, June 27, 2019 - At summer temperatures, the graduation of the "Environmental Technology and International Affairs" (ETIA) MSc Program took place in the Festsaal of TU Wien. 22 students from seven countries or four continents participated in the Master program. As part of the graduation of the MSc ETIA, the "ARA Best Study Award" was awarded, this year for the tenth time.
In his welcome speech, Bob Martens, Dean of Academic Affairs for Continuing Education at TU Wien congratulated all graduates and praised the high number of distinctions. Ambassador Emil Brix, Director of the Diplomatische Akademie Wien emphasized the majority of female graduates (17 out of 22) and thanked for the cordial cooperation with TU Wien.Thanks to this cooperation, current and future environmental challenges are analyzed from different points of view and thus, besides the technical knowledge, the human position is considered as well. In her speech, ETIA Faculty Member Anneliese Kasper-Giebl referred to the current global warming (the hottest month of June since records began) and called for a change of society with the aim of reducing emissions. She wished the graduates interesting and challenging jobs.
As part of the graduation ceremony, accompanied by the TU Orchestra, the "ARA Best Study Award" was presented for the tenth time. ARA Altstoff Recycling Austria AG is Austria's leading collection and recycling system for packaging. Christoph Scharff, CEO of the ARA, congratulated Bettina Röthlin on her outstanding performance as the best graduate of this cohort, followed by Julia Kostal and Stefan Cibulka.
On behalf of the alumni, two graduates thanked especially the families and friends for support during the intense study period.
