NII Intership On-Site program

After two years of travel restrictions to Japan we are more than pleased to announce the launch of the NII International Internship Program back to stays on-site.

After two years of travel restrictions to Japan we are more than pleased to announce the launch of the NII International Internship Program back to stays on-site, in Tokyo as per the guidelines. For developing better research contacts with partner institutions whom NII has signed MOU agreements with, it has been decided to promote back the possibility of receiving Master's and/or Ph. D. degree students from these institutions as interns. 

In 1st call of 2022 NII International Internship Program Guidelines for Candidates

We would want to inform you that travel conditions in Japan is not yet back to normal. In particular immigration to Japan might require to follow some rules and steps, even at the time when selected students will arrive in Japan. We would be grateful to you if, when informing your students and staff about this program, you could remind them about these special conditions and ask them for their kind collaboration.

Target candidates:
Master and/or Ph. D. students who are enrolled at TU Wien.

Application procedure:

Fill out the NII International Internship Program Application Form and submit it to JASEC (jasec@tuwien.ac.at) AND in CC to Prof. Thomas Eiter (eiter@kr.tuwien.ac.at) with your CV attached.

Choose up to three topics out of the list of topics from NII's website and establish contact with NII supervisors who match the desired research topic. For a successful application you will need a letter of acceptance from the supervising professor (this can also be the e-mail correspondence etc.)

A nomination by JASEC at TU Wien is necessary as no direct application from candidates is accepted.

Internal Deadline for submitting your application to JASEC is May 20, 2022.

Attention:

  • Do not send applications directly to NII as your documents will be checked by Prof. Thomas Eiter and Prof. A Min Tjoa before a nomination is sent to the NII.
  • For a successful application, applicants need to receive an informal letter of consent (an informal E-Mail is sufficient) which states that a potential supervisor agrees to welcome the applicant in his/her lab.
