In Austria, the ‘dream of a detached house’ still refers to a newly built home. Yet there are already around 1.5 million detached houses, a considerable number of which are unoccupied or underutilised. This ‘built treasure’ harbours enormous potential for putting a stop to the ongoing soil sealing.
