TUW-Professors receive prestigious Carola and Carl-Olof Ternryd Award for Advancements in Computational Wood Mechanics

The Linnaeus Academy Research Foundation has selected Professor Josef Eberhardsteiner and Professor Josef Füssl from TU Wien as recipients of the Carola and Carl-Olof Ternryd Award 2024. One of the most highly endowed awards for research in wood materials and computational mechanics.

Both recipients were present in Växjö, Sweden when the prize was awarded at the conference "Competitive wood-based materials and timber structures" at Linnaeus University.

The Ternryd couple’s award is given to individuals who have made significant contributions to the forest industry, primarily in wood processing, as well as to education, research, and development at Linnaeus University.

"It is with great gratitude and pride that we present the Carola and Carl-Olof Ternryd Award 2024 to two internationally distinguished researchers, while also contributing to future research collaborations for Linnaeus University", said Fredrik Åberg, Chairman of the Linnaeus Academy Research Foundation.

The cross-disciplinary approach of the Research Unit Structural Simulation and Timber Engineering at TU Wien will benefit the broader field of green sustainable development at Linnaeus University. There is great potential for further collaboration, including the exchange of PhD students who are currently being recruited. This will strengthen the established research groups and allow for the strategic development of newly established research areas at Linnaeus University as well as at TU Wien.
