On 19 April 2022, the diploma thesis of Dipl.-Ing. Joachim Wagner on "Large-scale axial load tests on large bored piles in typical Viennese subsoil", which was written at the Research Department for Foundation Engineering, Soil and Rock Mechanics of the Institute of Geotechnics, was awarded the second prize of the Austrian Foundation Engineering Award (photo above). The first prize was awarded to Dr.techn. Carla Fabris for her dissertation entitled "Numerical study on pullout tests of ground anchors monitored with fibre optic sensors", which was written at the Institute for Soil Mechanics, Foundation Engineering and Numerical Geotechnics at TU Graz. The award ceremony took place during the 13th Austrian Geotechnical Conference.

The Austrian Foundation Engineering Award is the most important award in the field of foundation engineering in Austria and is presented for particularly practice-relevant, scientific work. The award of the two papers, which were able to prevail over a large number of other submissions, thus confirms their high scientific quality and at the same time their proximity to practice.
