The International Symposium of the American Vacuum Society (AVS) is one of the best known and biggest meetings in vacuum science and technology as well as related fields of materials science; it is also the most important event in surface science in the USA. Each year, the best student presentation of the Surface Science Division is selected for the Morton M. Traum Surface Science Student Award, opens an external URL in a new window. At this year's symposium, opens an external URL in a new window in Tampa, Florida, this prestigious prize was awarded to Johanna Hütner for her poster Surface Structure and Ice Nucleation Investigated by Noncontact AFM.
