Excursion to Austrian Automotive Companies in Graz

In addition to practice-oriented lectures, it is important to get a deep insight into the production and logistics of the high-tech companies, how theoretical know-how is implemented in reality. From this reason, participants visited Austrian high-tech companies  in Graz and looked at the production and logistic process.

KTM (www.ktm.com/x-bow) is a very well-known Austrian off-road and street motorcycles producer. Parallel to the motorcycle production KTM has developed and produced KTM X-Bow - a sport car for road and race use. KTM started its development in 2006. In 2008 it has started the production of high performance race cars and sport cars. Not more than 100 cars yearly will be produece. In the factory in Graz the participants could see the logistics and production of the X-Bow-type. It was interesting to see the compact production line and its quality assurance system kept the high quality of the cars.

AVL List GmbH (www.avl.com) is one of the leading companies for the new engine and powertrain development and an innovative company with more than 65 years of experience. The company has three core businesses: instrumentation and test systems, advanced simulation technologies and powertrain engineering. AVL invests more than 10% of its turn-over into in-house R&D to provide innovative and comprehensive solutions to their customers because future technology has an impact on engineering demand. With its methodology and technology AVL is well prepared to meet these future requirements.

AVL is developing different powertrains. During the tour, the participants could see different cars with by AVL developed powertrain system. Also it was interesting how they try find the optimal  as well as right solution for the future powertrain.
