We are pleased that Austria has placed a focus of its basic research on materials for energy storage and conversion: Our Cluster of Excellence MECS was supported in the first funding period with Dominik and Alexey serving as PIs (out of 18 in the consortium). MECS will serve as a transformative center, not only contributing to the development of new materials that facilitate the transition to renewable energy sources, but also training a new generation of graduate students and postdocs ready to take on the challenges of materials chemistry research in this field.
