Beyond the Process – Finding common ground for a discussion on planning’s substantial foundation

This week, the research unit Urban and Regional Research at TU Wien is hosting an international working group from the ARL (Academy for Spatial Development in the Leibniz Association). The aim of the meeting is to collaborate on a book project that critically examines the challenges and foundations of planning sciences.

The sessions provide space for in-depth discussions on initial contributions, the framing of the book, and the planning of next steps. The working group seeks to create a platform for innovative debates, addressing the challenges, barriers, and necessities to rethink planning sciences, their origins, and characteristics. A key focus is on issues that are of direct relevance to spatial planning as a scientific discipline.

The event is taking place at both Vienna University of Technology and the University of Vienna.
