10 years EODC

EODC-Forum on June 10 and 11, 2024

The ten-year anniversary of the „Earth Observation Data Centre for Water Resources Monitoring (EODC)" was celebrated at the EODC-Forum on June 10 and 11, 2024, in the Kuppelsaal of the TU Wien. EODC has become a prime example of a successful public-private partnership in the high technology sector. At the EODC-Forum, the officials reviewed the first ten years and discussed future projects.

The EODC-Forum also hosted an EO Marketplace featuring success stories from key EO-actors and dynamic pitches showcasing their work, the services they offer, and ongoing and future needs that could be supported by satellite data. TU Wien participated with a vision of transforming teaching and learning earth observation techniques with the EODC JupyterHub. Jupyter as a central JupyterHub allows running Jupyter notebook servers for each student in a class, while the lecturer controls the computing environment. The example notebooks used in this demonstration, opens an external URL in a new window represent some of the main research lines of the Research Unit of Remote Sensing, such as flood mapping and soil moisture retrieval from microwave backscatter observations.
