The research and innovation project OSTrails, opens an external URL in a new window (abbreviation for Open Science Trails) is funded by the European Commission within the INFRA-EOSC call. It will run for 36 months, until the 31st of January 2027. The consortium, led by OpenAIRE, comprises 38 partners, including 22 research-performing organisations and 5 ESFRI Clusters.

OSTrails aims to enhance the methodologies involved in planning, monitoring, and evaluating scientific knowledge. It seeks to surpass existing approaches by collaborating with various countries and focusing on diverse themes to enhance current systems and establish vital connections for research and innovation (R&I). The overarching objective is to establish a practical, open, and FAIR system for European scientific research. The project's results will contribute to the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).

The role of TU Wien

Tomasz Miksa is the principal investigator for TU Wien. He serves as the project's technical coordinator and is responsible for a work package that deals with the design of interoperability frameworks and the overall architecture. In addition to its expertise in machine-actionable DMPs (maDMPs), TU Wien is contributing DAMAP, opens an external URL in a new window to the project, a tool for creating maDMPs that is being used at TU Wien as TU Wien DMP Tool, opens an external URL in a new window. TU Wien will also collaborate within the Austrian national pilot with other Austrian partners, namely TU Graz and the University of Vienna, to work on adopting project outputs, specifically maDMPs in Austria.
