Abstract:

RheinPlan focuses on the challenges of maintaining large commercial vehicles. Current maintenance plans are not sufficiently adaptive as they are based on experience and do not take into account variations in vehicle history and environment. This leads to unnecessary repair and maintenance costs. Furthermore, historical data sources are limited and incomplete as customers do not share their maintenance history with manufacturers. Truck usage patterns vary widely, ranging from long periods of idling to intensive year-round operation, which has a direct impact on maintenance needs. In addition, the location of the vehicle plays a crucial role, as different climates place different demands on the various components. To meet these challenges, dynamic maintenance schedules, networked data sources and customised approaches for the different operational scenarios of trucks are required.

Results:

  • Created data basis based on historical truck data as well as the survey of product experts
  • Developed decision support system that forecasts the service date for a selected vehicle
  • Comparison of the calculated value with legal requirements and set service intervals
