It has already become tradition at the ASC christmas party: First take a look at the passing year, then peak into what the next year will bring before staying together to chat, eat and drink. This year was no different.
Following a brief presentation [1] of the new and "old" employees, a review of the activities and achievements of the past year – teaching and projects, prizes and honours etc. –, an outlook for the events to come – especially the evaluation of and renovations at the institute – and words of thank from our head of institute, there was a relaxed get-together with a warm and cold buffet in front of the Nöbauer lecture hall.
This year around 130 guests were registered – professors and student employees as well as project and university assistants, administrative staff and former employees were all invited to a casual exchange with punch, mulled wine, biscuit and ginger bread. Some had even dressed up festively – including santa hats and reindeer antlers – which, in addition to the decorations, added to the christmassy feeling.
[1] You can find the slides of the presentation here [pdf], opens an external URL in a new window. They give an overview of the scientific and administrative staff working at ASC, facts and figures on the institute's research, teaching and studies, events and prizes – including the ASC Green Travel Award which presented for the first time this year –, tasks and an outlook for 2025 as well as acknowledgments.
