Textbook collection

In the textbook collection, you will find important basic works from the subjects taught at TU Wien in multiple copies.

Where do I find the textbooks?

The textbook collection is situated on the ground floor of the Main Library building. Note that chemistry and mechanical engineering textbooks are in the Chemistry and Mechanical Engineering library's textbook collection at Getreidemarkt on the 2nd floor. For every title in the textbook collection, an additional copy exists in the open access areas which is not available for loan and can be read in the library.

If all loanable copies of a textbook are out on loan, you can place a hold request on the online catalogue. You will then be notified as soon as a copy has been returned and placed on the Requested Books shelf for you. Many textbooks are also available online on the campus and can be accessed on CatalogPlus.

Course reading

Course reading collections consist of selected (text-)books that are recommended as reading for a lecture. These items cannot be borrowed, but all students can read them in the library and make scans of individual pages.

Where do I find the course reading shelf and how do I get the materials?

In the Main Library, the course reading shelf is at present located at the circulation desk on the ground floor.

Up to three items at one time can be used in the rare books reading room during the circulation desk's opening hours. A valid personal document is lodged at the stack requests desk while the item is in use.
