What does this mean for authors at TU Wien?
- Free open access publication in all hybrid APS journals.
- Fulfilment of the open access requirements of important funding organisations (e.g. FWF).
Funding conditions
- The corresponding author must be a member of TU Wien at the time of the application review.
- Article types eligible for funding: ‘Primary Research Material’ (e.g.regular articles, letters, rapid communications, reviews, perspectives, short papers).
- Open access costs for publications with external project funding (e.g. EU, FWF) are covered by the agreement.
- Funding from TU Wien Bibliothek must be mentioned in the acknowledgements: ‘The authors acknowledge TU Wien Bibliothek for financial support through its Open Access Funding Programme.’
Additional requirements for FWF projects:
- CC BY 4.0 licence is mandatory.
- FWF acknowledgement (including FWF Grant DOI) must be included in the manuscript upon submission.
How does the funding work?
- Affiliation with TU Wien is recognised upon submission and the article is automatically sent to the library upon acceptance.
- TU Wien Bibliothek checks the affiliation of the corresponding author.
- The acknowledgement is inserted after confirmation that the costs have been covered.
- Billing takes place directly between the library and the publisher.

Note:a separate funding application is required for pure open access journals.
