Following the successful first Buddy Programme excursion to Maribor (SLO), the participants travelled to the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen on 19 and 20 March 2025. The participants were treated to a varied programme full of exciting input, discussions with politicians and administrators, cycling excursions and sightseeing in Bremen and Achim. In addition to cycling mobility, the focus was on shared mobility, parking management and MaaS services.
The two-day excursion concluded with a public discussion event entitled 'Street Space in Transition - Neighbourhood meets Neighbourhood'. Representatives of the city administration, the excursion group and interested Bremen residents exchanged views on similarities and differences between Vienna and Bremen in terms of mobility design. In particular, Vienna's nationwide parking sticker as a model for parking space management and Bremen's pioneering role in car sharing were discussed. The design of green spaces in mobility projects was also highlighted with examples from both cities.
The excursion to Bremen was the second of three visits to international sister projects as part of the Trans|formator:in Buddy Programme. The final visit to Karlsruhe is planned for 2026.
