The action research conducted by Céline Schmidt-Hamburger and Charlotte Fleischmann combined surveys, mapping and interviews with a total of 130 young people from 12 to 19 years old.

The study shows that young people in Seestadt are predominantly sustainable in their mobility: they mainly use public transport and walk. Despite its high availability, the bicycle plays a subordinate role.

Instead of homogeneous needs, the researchers identified five types of mobility with varying requirements for urban space. There were clear gender-specific differences in mobility behaviour and spatial perception.
