How much ecological sustainability is truly embedded in technology and research?

This was the central question of the first internal Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) Symposium at TU Wien, held on June 16, 2025 – featuring over 30 contributions from seven faculties and numerous external guests.
Our institute was represented with a keynote lecture by Oliver Cencic, focusing on how to deal with uncertain data in Material Flow Analyses (MFA) – a crucial topic also for robust environmental evaluations – and a presentation by Daniel C. Rosenfeld, focusing on the development of a method and presentation option for greenhouse gas savings at TU Wien.
The symposium clearly demonstrated: LCA is more than just an analytical tool – it connects disciplines, fosters responsibility in technological development, and provides vital impulses for sustainable innovation.
We sincerely thank the organizers and look forward to continued interdisciplinary exchange!
