How can we protect our environment and make better use of the resources we already have?

[Translate to English:] Helmut Rechberger und Heidi Schaar

We’re happy to be part of the upcoming event “Kreisläufe: Umwelt schützen & Rohstoffe recyclen” in Vienna, where science meets real-world challenges.

Two of our researchers will be sharing their work:
Heidi SCHAAR (scientist in Research Unit Water Quality Management) will talk about the future of wastewater treatment. Sounds unglamorous? Think again. Wastewater holds hidden risks—and hidden potential. She’ll show how new technologies can help clean water more effectively and recover valuable materials in the process. “Flushing for Future” indeed!

Helmut Rechberger, head of Research Unit of Waste and Resource Management, will dig into a big question: Are we running out of raw materials? With prices rising and supply chains under pressure, it’s more than a theoretical concern. His talk looks at how Europe and Austria can rethink resource use and build more independence.

We’re proud to see research from Technische Universität Wien contributing to this important conversation.
