Under the motto "We dare to open science," the TU Wien Library hosted the first Open Science Day on June 3, 2025. For one full day, everything revolved around open science—with lectures and discussions on topics such as open access, (open) research data, open source, and citizen science. A particular focus was placed on transdisciplinary collaboration and the exchange between faculties and the TU Wien Library.

Researchers from a wide range of disciplines came together to share good practices and discuss the challenges of fostering an open research culture. The Open Science Day was a successful kickoff to strengthening open and free access to knowledge as a lived practice across disciplinary boundaries at TU Wien. The positive response shows: having the courage to be open is worthwhile—scientifically, institutionally, and personally.

Many thanks to the TU Wien Library for organizing and hosting this outstanding event.
