Farnborough International Airshow 2024

TU Wien is exhibiting again at this year's Farnborough International Airshow (near London), one of the largest and most important aerospace exhibitions in the world. It takes place from 22 to 26 July. TU Wien will be represented by the research units Production Engineering, Aircraft Systems and Transmissions for Aviation, opens an external URL in a new window.

Among other innovations, TU Wien will be presenting new technologies for production engineering as well as research projects in the field of sustainable aviation that have been raised successfully during the past year. In particular, these include two new European clean aviation projects and an exploratory study of the future potential of geared turbofans as part of the Austrian TakeOff program.

In advance of the trade fair, several meetings have been arranged with high-ranking representatives of the international and the domestic aviation industry, for example with the major European manufacturers of helicopters, Airbus (France, Germany) and Leonardo (Italy, UK). At the last Farnborough International Airshow two years ago, it was possible to raise substantial amounts of direct funding from Austrian companies.

TU Wien is part of the joint Pavilion of the Austrian Economic Chambers (WKO).

The final day of the airshow is dedicated to the ‘Pioneers of Tomorrow’. Here, the focus is on the relevant teaching at TU Wien, in particular the Master's degree programme in ‘Aeronautical Engineering’, which is scheduled to start in the winter semester of 2025.
