Anna Dobrova and Anna Pashynska from METALAB.
Anna Dobrova is a researcher, architect, and urban practitioner with a strong background in socially oriented architecture. She studied at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Kyiv and the Technical University of Vienna, gaining experience working with architectural and urban planning bureaus in both Ukraine and Austria. Her interest in socially responsible design led her to focus on curatorial work, educational workshops, art and urban interventions, and participatory action research. Anna is a co-founder of several grassroots institutions in Ukraine, including the NGO MistoDiya, METALAB, and the Charitable Foundation "CO-HATY." Since 2024, she has been leading the implementation of social housing humanitarian projects in partnership with UNHCR. Since moving to Basel in 2022, Anna has been involved with the Swiss Network with Ukraine at ETH and the NGO Re-Win, which promotes the reuse of building materials. Her work centers on supporting grassroots organizations to create inclusive, sustainable, and comfortable living environments.
Anna Pashynska is the co-founder and curator of the METALAB city laboratory, the CO-HATY affordable housing project, and the POLE Research and Product Design Center. She has over ten years of work experience in Ukraine and Austria as a curator, project manager, urban planner, and designer. Anna manages various projects, specialising in spatial research and design, product design, public space projects, initiated communities, and institutional planning.
