1st Expert Dialogue “Burgenland Master Plan for Pedestrian Traffic”
On September 4, 2025, experts met at the Eisenstadt Landhaus to discuss the future of pedestrian traffic in Burgenland. In addition to Peter Zinggl (Burgenland Transport Coordinator), Klaus Robatsch (KfV), and Cordula Müller (Burgenland Mobility Center), Prof. Günter Emberger (TU Wien) also spoke on the topic:
“Doing justice to pedestrian traffic – needs, qualities, and planning principles”
Highlight: The ESQUAT tool (“Simple Sidewalk Quality Assessment Tool”) – a simple 2-meter folding rule that can be used to check sidewalks for obstacles such as parked cars, fire hydrants, or billboards. This allows you to see immediately where sidewalks need to be improved.
The tool can be used in many places to ensure the quality of sidewalks.
Please send photos of its use to fvv.office@tuwien.ac.at – thank you!
