It's time again: from now until May 22, TUW students and employees can vote for best teachers, best lectures and decide who deserves the award for best gender-sensitive teaching. As usual, you can cast your vote via TISS, opens an external URL in a new window. The award ceremony will take place on October 9, 2025 at Kuppelsaal at TU Wien. You can also join online via a live stream.

"This owl doesn't fly to everyone. To catch Ber2TA, you need more than a fancy set of slides. Because it only lands with those who turn sparks into a blazing fire with their teaching. Teaching isn’t a side note to research. It’s the pulse. Without exceptional teaching, there are no bright minds, no bold questions, no next generation ready to shape the world. With the Best Teaching Awards, we’re shining a spotlight on teaching. Because it deserves it. And because outstanding teaching is not just a skill. It’s an art. So here’s to the passion, to the creativity, to the perseverance. And to proving, every day, that teaching can take wing,” explains Jasmin Gründling-Riener, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs at TU Wien.

The Best Teaching Awards 2025 comprise three categories:

Best Teacher Award

The "Best Teacher Award" honours exceptionally committed lecturers who provide outstanding teaching and foster a conductive learning environment with and for the students. The nomination evaluates the overall commitment of the lecturer, taking into account their contributions beyond one particular lecture.

Best Lecture Award

The "Best Lecture Award" honours exceptional lectures delivered by either a team of lecturers or an individual lecturer. This category emphasizes lectures that have left a positive impression on students, whether through an innovative teaching concept, the effectiveness of the teaching methodology employed or the use of media and tools.

Best Gender-Sensitive Teaching Award

The "Best Gender-Sensitive Teaching Award" acknowledges courses that are designed to strongly emphasize gender sensitivity, for example by employing gender-sensitive communication and inclusive language. You may also submit a self-nomination for this award.

Students, this one is for you: Nominate & be rewarded!

Students who submit a nomination will be automatically entered into the prize draw – with the chance to win a laptop, TU Ball tickets, or cool TU Wien hoodies! Winners will be randomly selected and announced during the Best Teaching Awards ceremony on October 9.
