This year, students and their supervisors of the Doctoral College TU-D met in Waidhofen/Ybbs for the annual workshop. Nail Barama presented his results on the adsorption of carbon  monoxide at the rutile TiO₂(110) surface. Arguably, TiO₂(110) is the best studied oxide surface and CO is the most popular probe molecule in IR spectroscopy on surfaces; nevertheless the IR spectra of this system were not understood so far. Using our ultrasensitive IR spectrometer setup, Nail could separate the signals of CO in different adsorption sites and for the first time determine which component of the spectra relates to which site.

Congratulations for the poster prize, well deserved!
