The prize was awarded for his contribution “ViPErLEED and Parameter-Tree-Based Tensor LEED”. The new implementation of Tensor LEED, a method of low-energy-electron diffraction, by Alex Imre greatly facilitates such calculations, and it makes them much faster: With the new method, the computing time for a problem of medium complexity was reduced from 12 hours to 15 minutes. Congratulations, Alex, well deserved!
