CRAES Delegation from China

This week, we had the great pleasure and honour of receiving a high-ranking delegation from the Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences.
After touring our laboratory facilities, we engaged in an inspiring discussion in which we quickly identified several areas of shared research interest and priority. These range from greenhouse gas emissions from wastewater treatment plants to pollution management in large transboundary river basins.
Drawing parallels between the Danube and Yangtze river basins was fascinating, as was realising that, although the causes of water quality impairment sometimes differ greatly — such as with phosphorus emissions — the tools and methods we develop could benefit both regions.

We truly hope that this marks the beginning of a fruitful future collaboration.
