The Institute of Energy Technology and Thermodynamics is proud to have been nominated for the champI4.0ns Award with the research project “DigiKurztakt”
The champI4.0ns Award recognizes innovative use cases in the field of data use in industry, especially with regard to the further development of industrial production by inspiring and outstanding pioneers. The award was presented on November 13, 2024 by the champI4.0ns consortium, a lead project funded by the Austrian BMK and the German BMWK, at the Global Data Spaces Connect event in Vienna.
DigiKurztakt, which stands for “digital twin of the short-cycle press” (short-cycle press = Kurztaktpresse), is a project in which a digital model of wood-based material processing using short-cycle presses was developed in close cooperation with FunderMax GmbH, opens an external URL in a new window and WoodK-Plus, opens an external URL in a new window.
The model allows precise temperature predictions for the press without having to install new measurement technology on the existing system. As product quality is heavily dependent on temperature, both resources and energy can be saved. For the ongoing digitalization of the industry, this application is a good way of equipping older systems for the production of the future, especially in situations where the installation of sensor technology for temperature measurements is not possible.
