We’re excited to welcome Alessia Torboli to our team as a guest PhD student!
Alessia is a double graduate in EnvironmentalEngineering from the Università di Trento (Italy) and the University of Cincinnati (USA). She is currently pursuing her PhD at UniTrento C3A, where she focuses on developing sustainable technologies to remove EmergingContaminants from Wastewater - a key step toward enabling safe and circular water reuse.

Her Research explores the ecohazards and mutual interactions among diverse Micropollutants present in wastewater - such as microplastics, pharmaceuticals, and PFAS - and biological components, including antimicrobial resistance determinants, viruses, and key environmental covariates.

During her 4-month stay at our institute, Alessia will be working within our Molecular Microbiology in Sanitary Engineering group to deepen the microbiological dimension of these complex interactions.
We’re thrilled to collaborate with Alessia on her innovative research at the intersection of WaterQuality, emerging contaminants, and molecular Microbiology.

Welcome aboard, Alessia — we’re glad to have you with us!
