FWF @ TU Wien: Funding for Basic Research Projects

Informationsveranstaltung

This information event will be held in English and is for TU Wien staff interested in basic research and scholarship programmes, regardless of their career stage.

You will get insights in FWF organisation, the underlying assessment procedures and the FWF funding portfolio. Furthermore, we will present TU Wien internal support regarding the application and the administration of FWF projects.  

We will present FWF funding programmes in detail in three parts, accompanied by best-practise talks of TU Wien researchers:

  • Part I: cooperative programmes
    Special Research Programmes (SFBs): Michael Wimmer, Research Unit of Computer Graphics, Institute of Visual Computing and Human-Centered Technology
    Young Investigators Research Group: Hannes Mikula, Research Group for Molecular Chemistry and Chemical Biology, Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry
  • Part II: stand-alone-projects, international programmes, new programme: 1000 ideas
    Stand-Alone Projects: Ansgar Jüngel, Research Unit of Analysis, Institute of Analysis and Scientific Computing
  • Part III: Career Programmes
    Lise-Meitner: Giuseppe Balduzzi, Research Unit of Strength of Materials and Biomechanics, Institute of Mechanics of Materials and Structures
    Elise Richter: Marta Sabou, Research Unit of Information and Software Engineering, Institute of Information Systems Engineering
    START: Emanuela Bianchi, Institute of Theoretical Physic

After the general introduction you will be able to ask your specific questions to FWF experts at a roundtable. The FWF offers the following Groups

  1. Stand-alone-projects, international programmes and new programme "1000 ideas"
  2. Special Research Areas, Research Groups, doc.funds, Young Investigator Research Groups
  3. Career Funding Programs

We ask you to  register for one group mentioned above (multiple-choices possible)  and to send, if possible, your questions in advance, so we are able to design the afternoon session accordingly.
