How to reach us

Vienna International Airport (Schwechat, VIE)

  • If you take a taxi from the Vienna airport it will take about 35 minutes but it will cost quite a lot. Perhaps as much as 36 €.
  • The City Airport Train (CAT) connects to the City Air Terminal Wien Mitte-Landstraße nonstop in just 16 minutes with a fare of 14.90 € (ticket machines/staff/online). From there you can take the subway line U4 in the direction of Hütteldorf to Karlsplatz. You will need an additional ticket for public transportation in Vienna – Wiener Linien.
  • The ÖBB S-Bahn 7 (S7) and the ÖBB  Regionalexpress 7 (REX) also connects to Wien Mitte-Landstraße Bahnhof. The VOR one-way ticket costs 4.40 € and includes public transportation in Vienna (one uninterrupted journey, changing lines allowed). After 23 min you will arrive in Wien Mitte-Landstraße Bahnhof. From there you can take the subway line U4 in the direction of Hütteldorf to Karlsplatz.
  • The ÖBB Railjet takes 15 minutes to Wien Hauptbahnhof. The fare for a VOR one-way ticket is 4.40 € and includes public transportation in Vienna (one uninterrupted journey, changing lines allowed) with a travel duration of 15 minutes. From there you can go with the subway line U1 (direction Leopoldau) to Taubstummengasse or Karlsplatz.

By public transport

Our department is located in the 4th district at Gußhausstraße 25. To reach it, take any of the metro lines U1, U2 or U4 to the stop Karlsplatz or U1 to the stop Taubstummengasse.

From Karlsplatz or from Taubstummengasse, you can easily walk (about 5 minutes) to Gußhausstraße shown in the following map:

When you enter the building from Gußhausstraße 25, you walk up a few stairs and then make a left turn (basically still at entrance level). You continue the corridor for some 20 m, then make a right turn to arrive at another staircase with an elevator.There is a board displaying the staff of our institute together with the room numbers. The secretary’s office is on the third floor.
