Obituary – Árpád Lajos Scholtz (1947-2025)

Árpád was born on January 19, 1947 in Kecskemét, Hungary.
In the course of the Hungarian uprising in 1956, Árpád's family fled Hungary and settled in Oberwart in southern Burgenland.

After attending the Höhere Technische Lehranstalt in Mödling, he began studying electrical engineering/communications engineering at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien),
which he completed in 1973 with his diploma thesis on the construction of two stable CO2-Lasers.

The institute covering a wide range of subjects in signals and systems, communications, radio-frequency engineering, and communication networks. The institute’s research is in fields of practical relevance, including mobile communications, flexible wireless systems, multimedia systems, optical communications, signal processing, communication theory, radio frequency engineering, and broadband communications.

The Christian Doppler Laboratory for Digital Twin assisted AI for sustainable Radio Access Networks is hosted by the institute.
