Admission process

If you are looking for information on the admission process, you can find it at the link Admission. The following describes the individual steps to take after you receive your admission letter.

  • Admission to the Green Chemistry Master’s Programme with a Bachelor’s Degree from Another National or International University

Once you have received your admission letter, please complete the following steps:

    • Apply for a visa, if required.
Further information can be found on the website of the International Welcome and Engagement Center (IWEC) at TU Wien (International Welcome and Engagement Center (IWEC) | TU Wien)
Please note that neither the Admission Office of TU Wien nor the Dean’s Office of the Faculty can provide information regarding visa procedures.
    • Arrange accommodation in Vienna.
Information on accommodation options is provided by the Service Unit for Student and Staff Exchange Services (Accommodation in Vienna | TU Wien)
    • Complete personal enrolment at the Admission Office
Please come in person to the Admission Office:
Karlsplatz 13, Stiege 1, Ground Floor, 1040 Vienna
      and bring all required documents.

It is possible to arrange an in-person appointment via TISS. However, it is also possible to enroll in person during opening hours without an appointment.

Personal enrolment must be completed during the official admission period of the respective academic year. Current deadlines are available on the Admission Office website (Academic Calendar | TU Wien)

Important: Students admitted to the Green Chemistry master’s programme may enrol for:

    • the winter semester from the beginning of July until the end of October, and
    • the summer semester from the beginning of January until the end of March,

regardless of citizenship, provided they already hold an admission letter.

We strongly recommend enrolling before the semester starts (1 October for winter semester, 1 March for summer semester), because course registration in TISS is only available after official enrollment.

  • Admission with a Bachelor’s Degree from TU Wien

If you hold a bachelor’s degree from TU Wien, admission to the Green Chemistry master’s programme follows the same procedure as for students with bachelor’s degrees from other universities. Please make sure to observe the applicable deadlines.

After receiving an admission letter, it is possible to enrol via TISS without visiting an Admission Office.

  • Fees to Be Paid

For first-time admission to a study programme, fees must be paid during the admission period. For continued registration, fees must be paid every semester within the continuation period (until 31 October for the winter semester and until 31 March for the summer semester).

    1. Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) Fee

When you are admitted to a study programme at TU Wien, you automatically become a member of the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH), the legal representation of students’ interests.

Membership is compulsory for all students.

The current amount of the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) fee can be found on the website of the Union (ÖH contribution – Österreichische Hochschüler_innenschaft (ÖH)).

Please note that the Austrian Students’ Union (ÖH) fee is not part of the tuition fee and must be paid every semester without exception, even if a tuition fee waiver or leave of absence has been approved.

    1. Tuition Fee

The amount of the tuition fee and the applicable regulations depend on the student’s nationality. Different rules apply to EU/EEA and non-EU/EEA nationals.

Detailed information on tuition fee regulations, amounts, exemptions, waivers, and reimbursements is available at the website of the Admission Office (Tuition Fee | TU Wien).

  • Continuation of Studies

To continue your Green Chemistry master’s studies, you must pay the Students’ Union fee and, if applicable, the tuition fee each semester.

The continuation is completed by paying the prescribed amount shown in your TISS account under:

    Student Self Service → Education

Payment must be made within the continuation period:

    • Winter semester: until 31 October
    • Summer semester: until 31 March

Further information is available on the Admission Office website (Continuation of studies | TU Wien)

Please note that financial support for students may be available.

Further information can be found on the website of Student Support Unit
