As a student at TU Wien, you have the opportunity to study at a European or international university as an exchange student for one or more semesters, or to complete an Erasmus+ internship abroad. Please refer to the Service Unit for Student and Staff Exchange Services (https://www.tuwien.at/en/studies/international/studying-abroad) for detailed information on available opportunities and participation requirements.
If you would like to have ECTS credits earned abroad recognized, the following steps must be completed before your stay abroad:
- Select suitable courses at the host institution
Familiarize yourself with the course catalogue of the host institution and choose the courses you would like to attend.
- If an equivalent course is offered within the Master’s Programme in Green Chemistry, it can be recognized as a bound elective course.
- Please ensure that the number of ECTS credits is roughly comparable to the corresponding course in your degree programme.
- Equivalent courses are courses with substantially similar content. In some cases, two smaller equivalent courses may be combined and recognized as one larger bound elective course in the Master’s Programme.
- If no equivalent course is available in the Master’s Programme, the course taken at the host institution may be recognized as a free elective course.
- Courses that support interdisciplinary competencies, such as language courses, presentation skills, or project management, may be recognized as transferable skills.
- Recognition of courses taken abroad as mandatory courses is not possible.
- Obtain prior approval
Send the course descriptions together with the completed Excel form (Download below) to the Dean of Academic Affairs for approval. If necessary, revise your course selection based on the feedback received.
After returning from your exchange stay:
- Apply for recognition of completed courses
Submit the final course documentation to the Dean of Academic Affairs for official recognition of the completed courses.
