ETIA Alumnus Spotlight – Bridging Technology and Global Policy

We’re proud to feature ETIA alumnus Binnu Jacob Eapen, whose journey reflects the interdisciplinary spirit at the heart of the MSc in Environmental Technology and International Affairs.

[Translate to English:] Binnu Jacob Eapen

Coming from an engineering background, Binnu was inspired to apply to ETIA by the program’s unique combination of environmental technology and international affairs. “It’s a game-changer in addressing the complex challenges of today’s interconnected world, especially when it comes to climate change and sustainable development,” he shared.
The first academic year at the Diplomatic Academy Vienna brought its own challenges, especially with subjects like politics, law, and economics—fields that were new to him. “Even though it was demanding, I gained valuable insights from these courses,” Binnu recalled.
Throughout the program, he developed a broad and integrated understanding of climate change, combining political, legal, economic, and scientific perspectives. This, he believes, is a powerful asset for his future career.
His message to future students? “ETIA is a rewarding choice for anyone who wants to align their interests with efforts to combat climate change and advance sustainable development.
