On September 8, 2025, the IMMO Insights Conference at TU Wien brought together leading minds from academia and practice. Under the motto “Green Value: Real Estate between Sustainability and Returns” experts discussed current challenges and opportunities in the market.

The focus was on how sustainability can be implemented holistically and economically profitably in the real estate industry. After a welcome by Bob Martens (Dean of Continuing Education, TU Wien Academy), Karin Stieldorf (TU Wien, Course Director ULG Sustainable Construction) introduced the event with an overview of sustainable construction methods and trends.

This was followed by three keynote speeches that shed light on the regulatory environment:

  • Eva Aschauer (TPA Österreich) on general regulations,,
  • Karin Schmidt-Mitscher (Erste Bank) on banking law requirements,
  • Doris Wirth (Bluesave) on certifications and the economic viability of sustainable real estate.

The subsequent panel discussion with the speakers, moderated by Mag. Peter Wirth, MAS (Bluesave), showed how strongly regulatory frameworks influence the implementation of sustainable strategies and how sustainability certifications affect new and existing buildings.

After a coffee break, the focus shifted to practical examples and a look into the future based on a scientific study conducted at TU Wien:

  • Peter Ulm (allora Immobilien) presented the “Zukunftsanker” project,,
  • Michael Haugeneder (ATP sustain GmbH) presented a sustainable project that has already been implemented and the life cycle value index,
  • Thomas Bednar (TU Wien) contributed the scientific perspective with the current research project and explained how a new type of digital planning can accelerate climate protection.

In the second panel discussion, Ulm, Haugeneder, and Bednar discussed the opportunities and challenges of current developments.

The intensive exchange between experts and the community was particularly valuable: the different perspectives complemented each other and provided new impetus for the responsible and future-oriented development of the real estate market.

We would like to thank all participants and are already looking forward to the next edition of IMMO Insights!
