As part of an international research project, a dual-fuel combustion process for methanol and ammonia is being investigated in collaboration with an industry consortium. The goal of the project is to make the combustion process in large engines more sustainable in the future. As part of the project, detailed optical investigations of the combustion process are being conducted, which will be used to validate numerical models. The IFA is contributing the CFD simulations.
