Johannes Suitner
Johannes Suitner is Assistant Professor for Urban & Regional Transformations in the Research Unit of Urban and Regional Research at TU Wien. His work is focused on local sustainability transformations. He investigates how general transformation goals (e.g., energy transition) are negotiated locally and translated into spatial and political transformation projects. He is interested in non-technological and non-market explanations for the success and failure of transformation, specifically political and cultural factors such as dominant ideas about the history and future of a place, established social practices and social innovations, specific planning configurations and planning cultures. His current research focuses on the transformation of planning, competing visions of the future and theories of change in regional development, as well as ecosystems of transformation.
