Portrait of Viktor Iaroshenko

Period: 01.06.2025 to 30.06.2025
Lectures: “Organofluorine Chemistry” and “Mechanochemical Synthesis of Organic Compounds”
Guest professor at the Faculty of Technical Chemistry, Institute of Applied Synthetic Chemistry

Viktor Iaroshenko received his doctorate from the Faculty of Chemistry at the National Taras Shevchenko University in Kiev, Ukraine, in 2009 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Andrei Tolmachev. He is currently an associate professor (lecturer) at the Department of Chemistry of the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia. Viktor Iaroshenko is a regular visiting scientist at international research institutions. Previously, he headed the Laboratory of Homogeneous Catalysis and Molecular Design at the Center for Molecular and Macromolecular Studies of the Polish Academy of Sciences in Poland.
His main research interests are: Green chemistry, catalysis, supramolecular catalysis, heterocyclic chemistry, organoelement chemistry, fluorine chemistry, phosphorus chemistry, organometallic chemistry, transition metal chemistry and functionalization of C-H and C-F bonds.
Viktor Iaroshenko is a recognized expert in the field of organofluorine chemistry and mechanochemical synthesis - topics that have so far hardly been included in the courses offered at TU Wien. In view of their high relevance for pharmaceutical drug development (organofluorine chemistry) and for sustainable synthesis methods in the context of green chemistry (mechanochemistry), his courses offer significant added value, especially for Master's and PhD students as well as advanced Bachelor's students.
