Detlef Wehling has been Professor of Business Administration with a focus on corporate management, marketing and entrepreneurship at Mannheim University of Applied Sciences since 2012. He studied economics and economic history at the University of Bonn and his research interests include new institutional economics and the founding and development of small and medium-sized enterprises. As an expert in entrepreneurship, he is particularly interested in the entrepreneurial personality and entrepreneurial fields of action. In over 25 years as a professor of business management - including as a visiting professor at TU Wien (since 2016) and at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles - he has developed programs for founding companies and accompanied numerous start-ups in their growth. He also teaches and conducts research at other universities such as Zeppelin University, the University of Economics in Wrocław and the Economic Development Institute of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber (WIFI) in Vienna and Linz.

Prof. Wehling has been teaching entrepreneurship at TU Wien since 2016, with a particular focus on the Faculty of Technical Chemistry. There he accompanies start-up projects, supports students in the development of business ideas and business plans and contributes his extensive expertise to the innovation process. TU Wien benefits greatly from his many years of experience in the field of business start-ups and the targeted promotion of technology-oriented spin-offs.
