Proficiency Evaluation

About one year after the start of the studies the PhD students of the TU Wien´s Faculty of Informatics have to start the process of the Proficiency Evaluation.

As a first step, the PhD must write a research proposal. This document is intended as a guideline for the further part of the doctoral program. In an oral presentation the PhDs introduce their research plans to an evaluation committee, which consists of the dean, a chair, a national expert and the superivisor.

The purpose of this early evaluation is to let the PhDs know the strengths and weaknesses of their plans. Through the feedback of the committee the projects can be improved.

PhD Seminar

The DC-RES PhDs receive further feedback at the regularly held PhD seminar. Each PhD must present his/her progress in the project to the entire DC-RES faculty once per semester.
