Millstatt, Austria – June 1st to 4th, 2025 – At this year’s Tech Forum Millstatt, the Team Scuderia Segfault from TU Wien delivered a standout presentation that brought autonomous racing technology to life – literally.
As part of their session, the team not only presented the RoboRacer platform and its role in STEM education, but also offered an interactive challenge: participants could take the wheel of a manually controlled car and attempt to beat the team’s autonomous racing algorithm. The engaging format drew in a wide range of attendees, from researchers to students, all eager to test their skills against the autonomous algorithms.
Autonomous racing in the RoboRacer series promotes hands-on education in robotics and self-driving vehicles. It provides open-source tools and coursework, and has led Team Scuderia Segfault from TU Wien to victory and top podium placements in several international competitions. Moreover, the RoboRacer platform is used to develop and demonstrate novel autonomous driving algorithms and methods in a range of scientific projects.
As our goal is to make robotics and autonomous systems tangible and accessible, this interactive presentation at the Tech Forum Millsatt was very well received. Letting people race against the algorithm made the technology actually touchable and exciting.
