Open Positions

We announce 8 open PhD positions within the framework of the doctoral programme “GreenChem – TechHub”, funded by the FFG, to be filled starting March 2025 for the expected duration of four (4) years. Each doctoral researcher will engage in a structured research program, spending up to 3 years at the academic institution and 1 year embedded with an industry partner (or continued university employment with an industry secondment). This model ensures valuable cross-sector experience in applied green chemistry and biotechnology.

The positions are equivalent to part-time university assistantships (30 hours/week) and offer competitive remuneration according to FFG guidelines and the respective university’s pay scale, including full social benefits.

Applications must include:

  • Europass CV (incl. publications, conference contributions, scientific activities)
  • Cover letter stating preferred PhD topic(s) ranked in order of preference, with motivation
  • One-page summary of diploma/master thesis
  • Bachelor’s and Master’s certificates (or progress statement if not yet issued)
  • Transcripts of records (Bachelor + Master)
  • Two letters of recommendation
  • (Optional: additional relevant documents such as proof of internships, awards, or language certificates)

Selection process:

  • Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview (online or on-site).
  • Interviews may include:
    • Presentation of previous research
    • Discussion of an article relevant to the chosen PhD topic (sent in advance)
    • Reflection on the project’s implementation proposal
