The Industriebauseminar was initiated in 2000 by Professor Sommer and has been led since 2003 by Professor Achammer and Professor Iva Kovačić.

The seminar engages with current issues and transformative processes in industrial construction within a socio-economic context. In particular, it addresses the synergies and complex interdependencies between building design, production processes, logistics and energy supply.

Its keynote speakers have included renowned figures such as Nigel Thompson of Ove Arup & Partners, Gunter Henn, Roman Delugan, Dietmar Eberle, Stefan Behnisch, Tobias Nolte, Bernhard Plattner of Renzo Piano Building Workshop, and Werner Sobek.

The Industriebauseminar sees itself as a platform for exchange between researchers and practitioners, as well as architects, engineers, construction and industrial companies, investors, developers and urban planners.
