My main research interests concern the influence of microstructure and texture on kinetics and mechanisms of phase transitions and on mechanical and functional material properties. Further, I am highly interested in the improvement of microstructural properties by thermo-mechanical processing. For the characterization of microstructural properties such as crystallographic orientation relationships, defects or grain boundary networks I employ advanced techniques such as SEM based orientation imaging microscopy (EBSD and TKD), in-situ XRD diffraction and X-ray line profile analysis or TEM. My current principal research topics are deformation induced precipitation in micro-alloyed aluminium and precipitation of intermetallic phases in duplex steels.
