To gain a degree from the TU Wien in Advanced Technologies & Global Leadership you have to pass five modules. Every module focuses on a specific topic that improves your skills as a decision-maker in a tech-driven business world. See all modules under curriculum. Next to four mandatory and prescheduled modules you may choose your specialization called "Masterclass". Caltech designed three learning journeys for different groups of professionals.

Masterclass Operations & Supply Chain Management

Our specialization in Operations & Supply Chain Management prepares our leaders of tomorrow for the future and the challenges and opportunities it requires. In-depth insights into structures and processes, be it procurement & supply, end logistics, product & process quality, cost & material management, and more, as well as the exchange about them with highly qualified lecturers, students and partners are of utmost importance here.

Masterclass Deep Tech

The Masterclass "Deep Tech" (Managing Advanced Technologies and Innovation) is a two-week compact program designed to provide business leaders with the knowledge, tools, and strategies necessary to navigate the rapidly evolving landscape of advanced technologies. This immersive course exposes participants to cutting-edge technologies such as AI, IoT, quantum computing, and biotechnology through a mix of case discussions, laboratory demonstrations, lectures, and readings. The program fosters future thinking, develops innovative business models, and leads organizational change to ensure participants can effectively manage and capitalize on technological advancements in their industries. While on campus for two weeks, students will learn from lab visits and lectures on autonomous systems, mobility, sustainability breakthroughs, and technologies for the new space economy and earth science research.

Masterclass Systems Engineering

The Masterclass "Systems Engineering" is a two-week compact program designed to provide business leaders with the knowledge, tools, and strategies necessary to apply systems thinking to product development. This immersive course focuses on practical methods and tools for eliciting user needs and requirements, defining robust system architectures and designs, and effectively verifying and validating that the product works as intended. The course covers current industry best practices to ensure robust, cost-effective designs that meet stringent functional, performance, and cost requirements. Participants will learn from lab visits and lectures on autonomous systems, agility, resilience, and robotics.

The MBA program is a unique content combination of management, technology and leadership. At our leadership retreats, you focus on your personal skills and leadership competencies. Through intensive exchange, you learn from and with each other in a trusting setting. You get to know yourself better as a leader and can thus lead your team more effectively. 

The leadership retreats take place on 3 blocked dates outside Vienna in a seminar hotel. In addition to theoretical inputs and discussions, the learning experience also includes group dynamic exercises and outdoor elements. A thorough reflection enables the transfer of what has been learned into practice. 

 

Through the MBA Advanced Technologies & Global Leadership program at TU Wien, students and alumni benefit from the long-standing tradition in management and technology education, excellent lecturers from research and practice, an outstanding international approach, and a large alumni network at TU Wien.

Students have two-week education at Caltech in Pasadena. Ten days of instruction (Monday through Friday) plus cultural, business tours, evening events, and ancillary learning events are included. Caltech will issue a Certificate of Completion to each student who attends and satisfactorily passes each course. Students will attend courses on the Caltech campus and also attend various cultural presentations, participate in relevant company and laboratory tours, and meet several executives from local manufacturing and distribution companies.

Schedule

Our program is designed for working professionals and allows you to balance work, family and our MBA program. This allows you to work while developing new business skills, knowledge and competencies.

It runs over 18 months and includes 45 class days. The modules take place in block form mostly from Thursday - Saturday all day. For the specialization, a stay of approximately 2 weeks in Pasadena, California, U.S. is planned. Before and after the modules there will be online sessions for kick-off / briefing and reflection / de-briefing.

Didactics

All modules are divided into a preparation phase, the in-class time and a follow-up phase.

The individual preparation phase for a module includes pre-readings, preparation of case studies, preparation of presentations, essays, etc.

The classes use a wide variety of teaching and learning methods. These range from interactive case studies, simulations and calculations to classical presentations, but also include discussions, group dynamic exercises and reflections.
Modules take place in full-day blocks and usually last between 3-5 days. 

The individual follow-up phase is intended to consolidate or apply what has been learned in class. Depending on the module, the follow-up phase may include writing assignments, case studies, reflections or exams.
