What comes after the postdoc? This session brings together researchers and funding organisations to offer an honest picture of academic career pathways, grant opportunities, and how to navigate them strategically. The funding choices you make now can shape your scientific trajectory for years to come. A panel discussion and open Q&A give participants direct access to first-hand experience from both funders and researchers. The session closes with a networking lunch to continue conversations in a more informal setting.

  • Insights into technology transfer, market dynamics, and value creation
  • Real stories from researchers who turned ideas into impact in different ways
  • Practical tools to apply entrepreneurial thinking to your own career decisions

 Agenda at a glance:

  • Welcome & Context – Why entrepreneurial skills matter for researchers
  • Keynote: From Invention to Impact – Turning science into real-world value
  • Panel + Q&A – Researchers across academia, industry & startups share their journeys
  • Networking / Interactive Session – Connect, exchange, and reflect on your own path

TUW PAW Career Energizer

Career Energizer · An Hour for Your Career

Intro
Some meetings leave you energised. Others drain you — even when they went well. Some
people reflect best in silence, while others need interaction to think clearly. These
differences are not flaws; they reflect how we work, recharge, and contribute.
In this session, you explore what introversion and extroversion really mean, beyond common
stereotypes and in the context of your daily work. Through a short experiential exercises, you
will identify your own energy patterns and how they shape teamwork, focus, and early
leadership experiences.
You will leave with a clearer understanding of how you work best — and practical ways to
align your environment and interactions accordingly.
Takeaways
• Understand what introversion and extroversion actually mean and what they don't
• Recognise your energy patterns in meetings and focused work
• Identify situations that energise you and those that drain you unnecessarily
• Reflect on how your preferences shape collaboration and emerging leadership roles
• Define a small, concrete experiment to try in the coming week
