IEEE members Austria

The Austrian Chapter of the IEEE Magnetics Society has recently been established, creating a new platform to connect researchers and professionals working in the field of magnetism in Austria. The chapter’s leadership team includes Amalio Fernández-Pacheco and Sabri Koraltan, from the Institute of Applied Physics at TU Wien as Chair and Secretary, respectively. Andrii Chumak from the University of Vienna serves as Vice-Chair, while Perla Malagò from Silicon Austrian Labs takes on the role of Treasurer.

The IEEE Magnetics Society is an international organization dedicated to advancing research and technological development in magnetics. It provides a platform for collaboration, knowledge exchange, and professional development among scientists and engineers worldwide.

The Austrian chapter will focus on fostering interaction and collaboration across different areas of magnetism. Its activities will include organizing workshops, seminars, and conferences, hosting talks by international experts, and building professional networks. A key priority is supporting graduate students and early-career researchers, offering them opportunities to engage with topics such as nanomagnetism, spintronics, magnonics, magnetic data storage, sensing technologies, and magnetic materials.

This initiative seeks to strengthen Austria’s contribution to the global magnetics community and promote advancements in both research and applications.
